Performance Measures Overview

The following clinical performance measures have been included for reporting in your vaxPACES Clinical Performance Dashboard in order to meet the best available evidence for the highest quality of care for vaccination status for preventable diseases.

Time Period for Reporting: The results will be updated every six months for up to two years post registration.

Validation: The methods used for the calculation of the results from the BCI claims databases that have been validated by the NCQA to meet the accepted standards for the Health Information and Data Effectiveness Data Set (HEDIS®) reporting. (1)

Measure Description for Varicella zoster Vaccination

Measure: Percentage of eligible persons aged 50 years and older who have received complete vaccination for Varicella zoster.

  • Description: Varicella zoster vaccination is recommended for persons 50 years and older with some exception. A complete vaccination regimen requires at least one dose of the varicella zoster live vaccine or two doses of the varicella zoster recombinant vaccine at least 28 days apart, any time on or after the patient’s 50th birthday.

  • Numerator: Number of eligible person who have received a complete Varicella zoster vaccination.

  • Denominator: Number of eligible persons 50 years of age and older within the data mart.

    • Denominator Exclusion: Patients who refuse vaccinations or are otherwise ineligible for vaccination for other reasons including those who are pregnant, immune suppressed or immune deficient.

Note: the data mart provides a retrospective view of patient health records up to 2 years back.
